My New Silencer
I took my silencer out to the gun range and I had a Blast
I used it on my LR 308 . I have a Recce 7 that I purchased from Copper Custom in Valparaiso, Indiana
https://www.coppercustom.com/ I must give them a shout out, they are very helpful when it came to
questions that I had about my silencer. I have decided that the next rifle I want to get will be
the Ruger Precision Rifle . I want to get the rifle in the 6.5 Creedmoor round to take to the gun range and shoot long distance
http://ruger.com/micros/rpr/spec-18005.html Someday ! At some point I will have to learn how to post pictures of my targets.
It took about 6 months between the lawyer paperwork and the ATF Tax stamp, but Copper Custom called me last week to let me know that my silencer came in
I admit, I was somewhat ignorant about which specific brand of silencer to purchase. I knew that I wanted one that I could use on multiple calibers. I knew that I am just a
recreational shooter who enjoys the sport,……. and I just wanted a silencer because it looks cool ! The good guys at Copper Custom listened to my wants and needs
and recommend the Griffin Recce7 to me. I checked out the different brands they have. I chose the Reece7
I want to give a shout out to Griffin Armament , check out their website:
http://www.griffinarmament.com/ My silencer is made my Griffin and yes I love it.
The great thing about my silencer is that I can use it on multiple calibers from 5.56/223 up to 300 Winchester Magnum. That includes the
6.5 Creedmoor caliber. Sadly, my AR 15 is made from carbon composite, so I am unable to use the silencer safely on this rifle, but I still have
my LR 308 that I can use it on.
Currently I have a DPMS LR 308 that I used with my silencer. I have only the 16 inch barrel, I want to get a 24 inch barrel.
I belong to a private gun range in northwest Indiana called Young’s Long Shot. I love this place. It makes me very happy
The range goes out to 1000 yards. The most I shot out so far with my LR 308 is at 600 yards. The range has metal plates
that you can aim at, or you can take the Gator vehicle and drive down and hang up your own paper targets. They do not allow
for 50 CAL rifles to be shot at this range, but I have seen a gentlemen use his 338 Lapua , which is pretty close.
Please check them out at http://youngslongshot.com/ If you like to go shooting, why not reach out and expand your ability. I go to
the local state run range which is at 100 yards, but that is very limiting. I enjoy the science and understanding of ballistics, learning to improve
my form and learning which rounds my rifle likes. I experiment with different rounds. Maybe I should post my thoughts and results about this.
For me shooting is a great way to relieve stress. I find that I am in control. Some people go to Yoga classes to learn to relax. This is my one of a few hobbies that
I enjoy that truly relaxes me after a stressful week of work. I feel energized after I go to the gun range.
As I expand my horizons, I will purchase that Ruger Precision as I improve and as finances allow. Nothing at this point though. Shooting is not a cheap hobby,
I am not at the point where I would even consider getting into competition, but I would love to watch those competitors and see what they shoot and get the layout of
the competitions. For now, it is something that I enjoy that causes me pleasure.
